I was born in 1027 in Falaise, Normandy, and my father was Robert II, Duke of Normandy. Of coursee I became Duke of Normandy when my father died. I was then 7 years old. The French King, henry I, helped me to take control of Normandy because I had many rivals. I married my cousin Matilda in 1053. She was then 22 and I was 26. We had four sons and six daughters. I became more and more powerful and King Henry tried to invade Normandy in 1054 and 1057 but I resisted and Henry's troops left Normandy. King Edward the Confessor then promised me the throne of England after his death because he had no children. But after edward's death on January 4th, 1066, Harold Godwinson was crowned King of England as Harold II and, as you can imagine, I was very angry.
